Prof Taher Murder Case
Deposition of 44 PWs recorded so far
Rajshahi Speedy Trial Tribunal yesterday recorded depositions of two medical specialists as prosecution witnesses in Prof Sheikh Taher Ahmed murder case.
They are Dr M Enamul Haque and Dr Emdadur Rahman of forensic medicine department of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. With this, deposition of 44 PWs has been recorded in the case.
The court recorded the deposition of PW and Prof Taher's colleague Dr Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan Sajal of geology and mining department of RU on Monday.
The court Judge ATM Mesbauddoula fixed March 4 and 5 for hearing of other witnesses.
Trial of the case started on June 18 last year against six persons including Dr Mia Mohammad Mohiuddin, a teacher of geology and mining department of RU, and former president of RU unit of Islami Chhtra Shibir Mahbubul Alam Salehi.
The other accused are Jahangir, Salam, Nazmul and Azimuddin Munshi.
Jahangir, Salam and Nazmul made judicial confessions about their involvement in the murder.
Dr Taher, a senior professor of geology and mining department was killed on February 1 in 2006 and his body was recovered from a sewer behind his campus residence three days later.
Mohiuddin and Salehi, teacher and student of the same department, masterminded the murder promising hired killers with computers and jobs.
