Army chief gives fishing items for Sidr victims
Army chief General Moeen U Ahmed yesterday distributed 20 trawlers, nets and others fishing instruments among 55 Sidr affected fishermen of Kalapara upazila in the district.
Army men are always beside the people when they are affected with natural calamities like cyclone Sidr, he said at a view exchanged meeting with the local elite.
"We will provide service to the affected people until completion of the rehabilitation task.
The government has already distributed 403 tractors among the Sidr hit farmers in six districts. Cyclone shelter cum mosque will be built in the coastal areas," he said.
He emphasised increasing production to mitigate food crisis in the country.
He urged all classes of people to come forward with positive approach to make the country corruption-free.
Jessore 55 Division JOC Maj Gen Rafiqul Islam and Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner Mir AGM Moshiur Alam addressed among others in the meeting.
