Sheikh Hasina's stand

A freedom fighter, On e-mail

My compliments. You have headlined in The Daily Star that Sk. Hasina has refused treatment under physicians and facilities to be arranged by the authorities. After what has transpired from an attempt to get rid of her, in the name of reform, as prescribed by the Shushil Shomaj, I as a physician, do fairly and firmly believe that her refusal is justified. I repeat, as a physician, I would not recommend her to submit herself to the physicians appointed by the government. Besides, complicated and delicate treatment of her Auditory System, is not possible in Bangladesh. Because that is not only a matter of medicine but fine medical-electronic technology is involved. After the High Court has absolutely ruled that bringing "offences" committed before 1/11 under the EPR is illegal and without any lawful authority, she is well within her rights to seek and get bail to go abroad for treatment.
