2 new envoys to Italy, Mauritius
The government has appointed new envoys to Italy and Mauritius.
According to a foreign ministry press release yesterday, the government has decided to appoint Md Shahdat Hossain, currently serving as the Bangladesh ambassador to the State of Qatar, as the new ambassador of Bangladesh to the Italian Republic.
A career diplomat, Shahdat also served the Bangladesh Embassies in Sri Lanka and Cairo, Bangladesh High Commissions in Islamabad and New Delhi, and Permanent Mission of Bangladesh in New York.
He obtained BA and MA degrees in English Literature from Rajshahi University and is a BCS Cadre.
The government has also decided to appoint Shabbir Ahmed Chowdhury, currently serving as the consul general of Bangladesh in New York, as the first resident high commissioner of Bangladesh to the Republic of Mauritius, said another press release.
A career diplomat, Shabbir also served the Bangladesh Embassies in Brussels and Beijing and Bangladesh High Commission in London.
