Ctg students stage sit-in
Hundreds of medical college admission seekers in Chittagong city yesterday staged a sit-in blockading the city's GEC intersection for two hours.
They called the programme to protest the government's recent decision to admit students to medical colleges based on their GPA in HSC and SSC examinations rather than through holding admission tests.
The admission seekers, under the banner of “Medical Bhartichchu Shikkharthibrinda,” also urged the government to cancel this decision.
They marched from the Circuit House area to GEC intersection and blocked the intersection around 11:30am, creating huge tailbacks in the adjoining Tiger Pass area and Zakir Hossain road, said witness and police. The blockade was removed at 1:30pm.
Later, the admission seekers took out another procession till Chittagong Press Club and staged a sit-in there for an hour to press home their demand.
