Church staff 'commits suicide'
A church accountant allegedly committed suicide at the Assemblies of God church in the capital's New Eskaton area yesterday.
The deceased, Joel Gathia, 55, resided on Dilu Road in Maghbazar and hailed from the village of Kotali Para in Gopalganj.
Gathia went to the church's bathroom in the morning and did not come out, said Ramna police.
Concerned fellow workers broke open the bathroom door at 11:00am and found Gathia's body hanging by the neck from the bathroom shower, police said.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
