13 DU students get awards

The Dhaka University authorities yesterday conferred prestigious "Dean's Honour Award" and "Dean's Award" on 13 students of the arts faculty for their outstanding results in the honour's final examinations in 2010. Five students received "Dean's Honour Award" and eight others received "Dean's Award" at a programme held at DU senate building. Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed the awards. The Dean's Honour Award winners are Habibullah (Arabic), Muhammad Abdul Hadi (Arabic), Shamima Nasreen (Urdhu), Shirajum Munira (Islamic Studies) and Syeda Ifat Ara (Dramatics). The Dean's Award receivers are Manjura Malik Azami (English), Sharmin Nahar (Persian Language and Literature), Soma Dey (Sanskrit), Jafreen Rizwana (History), Tanzina Mehnaz (Psychology), Nazma (Islamic History and Culture), Shamima Yesmin (Information Science and Library Management) and Towhida Jahan (Linguistics). Arts faculty Dean Prof Sadrul Amin presided over the programme.
