Punishment for the responsible sought
Two left-leaning parties at a rally yesterday demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment for those involved in the irregularities in Sonali Bank.
Communist Party of Bangladesh and Bangladesher Shamjtantrik Dal organised the rally before Jatiya Press Club.
The leaders of the parties demanded confiscation of properties of the persons who are involved in the scam, said a release.
They also urged the Bangladesh Bank to make all the banks and financial institutions free from politicisation.
The Ruposhi Bangla Hotel Branch of Sonali Bank had lent Hallmark Group and five others companies Tk 3,547 crore between 2010 and this year based on forged documents, according to a Bangladesh Bank investigation.
