2 killed, 11 hurt in road crashes
Two people were killed and eleven others injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka and Brahmanbaria yesterday.
Our staff correspondent reports, a man was killed instantly and eleven others were injured as two trucks collided head-on on Uttara-Ashulia highway in Kanar Para area of the capital yesterday early morning.
The deceased Mohammed Salauddin, 27, was one of the truckers.
Sources said a group of 42 fish traders were going to Mymensingh in three trucks. Later, another sand-laden truck, hit the front one of the three trucks, killing Salauddin.
The injured were treated at a local hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
A case was filed with Turag Police Station.
Our Brahmanbaria correspondent reports, a man was killed as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw knocked him down on Sultanpur-Akhaura road at Chandi village in sadar upazila of the district yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Malai Mia, 40, of Chandi village in Bashudeb union.
According to witness and police sources, the CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit Malai Mia from behind while he was walking along the footpath of the road.
In a critical condition, he was taken to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
The driver, with his auto-rickshaw, managed to escape.
