15 pirates held in Ctg
Bangladesh Coast Guard personnel yesterday nabbed 15 pirates from Karnaphuli river in Chittagong in an overnight drive.
They also seized three boats, several sharp weapons and 40 metres of berthing hawsers from the pirates' possession.
Tipped off, three coast guard teams conducted drives from 9:30pm Thursday till yesterday morning and nabbed the pirates while preparing for a robbery attempt in Outer Anchorage area of Karnaphuli river, said Lt Commander Atiqur Rahman of Bangladesh Coast Guard (East Zone).
The pirates were handed over to Patenga Police Station and a case was filed in this regard.
Earlier, Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested 36 robbers along with six engine boats and a fishing trawler from the same area on Tuesday.
