Journalist attacked over report

A journalist in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur was attacked on Thursday night allegedly for writing a report on the August 4 attack on Hindu community over building a mosque on a disputed land. The journalist Md Morshedul Islam is the Chirirbandar correspondent of Bangla newspaper Daily Karatoa. According to family members, while returning home, Morshedul was attacked by a group of miscreants. Hearing his cries for help, locals rushed to the spot, rescued Morshedul and took him to the upazila health complex. Morshedul was then shifted to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital. On August 4, more than 50 people were injured as two groups of villagers locked in a series of clashes over building a mosque on a disputed land. According to Morshedul's report, which was published on August 29, an ASI of Chirirbandar Police Station and a headmaster from Dangarhat were involved in starting the clash.
