Road safety on DU campus demanded

Staff Correspondent
Dhaka University (DU) students, teachers and staff yesterday urged the university administration to submit a memorandum to the prime minister soon to ensure their safey on the roads of the campus. The demand came at a human chain programme organised by them in front of Aparajeya Bangla on the campus to press home their five-point demand. They demanded exemplary punishment to the bus driver and his helper who were responsible for the killing of DU student Towhid Zaman in an accident at Shahbagh in the capital on Tuesday. They also demanded compensation for Towhid's death, construction of a foot overbridge and an underpass at Shahbagh and Nilkhet intersections and imposing restriction on the plying of outsiders' vehicles on DU campus.
