The National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports yesterday threatened to go for tough agitation programmes including laying siege to the energy ministry, if the government does not withdraw its decision to increase power tariff before September 6. Slating the government's decision, the committee leaders said people will not be liable for the production of power as the decision was taken to satisfy looters of the country. They made the remarks at a rally organised in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the capital in protest of the government's decision, said a press release. Prof Anu Muhammad, among others, spoke at the rally.
