Man stabbed dead in capital

A young man was stabbed to death in Kamrangirchar area in the capital early yesterday. The deceased was Saiful Islam Suman, 22, a plumber and a resident of Huzurpara in the area. Sujan, an elder brother of the victim, said some miscreants attacked Suman when he was returning to his residence around 2:00am and he was killed on the spot. Locals said about one hundred people demonstrated demanding arrest of the killers. With the body of Suman, the people also paraded the streets in the area. Quoting locals, AKM Nasirullah, officer-in-charge at Kamrangichar Police Station, said one Tokai Suman and his associates were involved in the killing. There was a previous enmity between a group of Tokai Suman and the deceased Saiful Islam Suman, who also belongs to another group, over establishing supremacy in the area, he said. According to locals, the enmity was prevailing between the groups for establishing supremacy over drug trading. Earlier on August 20, the two groups locked in a violent clash.
