Car parking

A few days ago a police official fined some cars for parking in front of a “diagnostic centre” of Dhanmondi R/A. Afterwards the official left the place, but has he ever thought why people had to park the cars at that particular point and went inside for X-rays, blood tests etc urgently? Dhaka has become a big city without proper planning. People have built houses, shops, shopping centres, shopping malls, supermarkets, universities, colleges, schools, hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centres, doctors' chambers, offices, hotels, TV stations, bus depots, high rise buildings etc. etc. No one thought to keep enough space for “parking of cars”. Hence people are now compelled to park their cars on the “roadside”. This causes difficulty for everyone. I would therefore request the “government” to look into this problem and find a solution for the benefit of the citizens of Dhaka. There should be two plans one “Short Term” and the other “Long Term”. In the Short Term Plan, immediate steps should taken to provide some “parking space” for cars within available spaces at the above locations, so that people can get some relief. For the Long Term Plan, a detailed study should be made by the “Experts” of various agencies and decisions taken for early implementation. “Public Transport” is not readily available in Dhaka city. Most of the taxis and autos refuse to go on meter. They demand exorbitant fares from customers. Hence people are compelled to keep their own cars for movement. It may be mentioned here that in our neighbouring country India taxis are available “24 hours” on call in the main cities at charges fixed by the government. In case of any difficulty the police come forward to help people.
