Japan will provide a grant of US$ 2,26,186, approximately Tk 1.81 crore, for two agricultural development projects in rural areas of Bangladesh. In this regard, two contracts were signed by Shiro Sadoshima, Japanese ambassador to Bangladesh, on Wednesday in the capital. The two projects will establish unique models of agricultural development. They will procure agricultural machineries and provide comparatively cheaper-rate renting service to poor farmers. Agriculture Sustainable and Socio–Economic Development Organisation (ASSEDO) and Voluntary Organisation for Social Development (VOSD) will receive the grant, said a press release. Meanwhile, the Japanese embassy held a reception, at the Japanese ambassador's residence, for Bangladeshi students who recently visited Japan for two weeks. Fifteen university students paid a visit to Japan from November 4 to 17 and nine secondary school students from December 2 to 15 under Kizuna (bond) youth exchange programme.
