5 held with fake visas
Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in a joint drive, arrested five people with fake visas at Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Tuesday night.
Among the arrested, Shamima Sultana, 25, Jesmin Ahmed, 26, Shafiqul Islam, 21, were trying to fly to South Africa while Aminur Rahman, 36, and Israfil Hossain, 32, to Cambodia.
Shamima, Jesmin and Shafiqul were supposed to fly on a flight of Qatar Airways while Aminur and Israfil of Saudi Arabian Airlines.
Acting on tip off, the airport armed police battalion held the five in front of Gate No-3 of the departure terminal of the airport around 9:00pm, said ASP Motazzer Hossain.
"After the detention of those five persons, we verified their passports at the data analysis centre where we found that their visas were fakes," he said.
