Seven 'robbers' held in Ctg

Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard detained seven alleged robbers at the outer anchorage of Chittagong port and seized two engine-run boats from their possession on Wednesday evening. The detainees were identified as Md Faruk, 28, Khokon, 20, Md Farhad, 18, Rahim, 22, Nur Islam, 35, Jashim Uddin, 29, and Md Rubel, 20, all hailing from Anwara upazila of Chittagong. While patrolling the outer anchorage area at around 6:30pm, the Coast Guard members caught the robbers with the engine-run boats, said Lt Commander Mamunur Rashid of the coast guard (East Zone). They also recovered 30kgs of iron scraps, 400kgs of maize and 17 empty jerrycans from their possession, he said. The estimated value of the boats and the seized items was around Tk 3.06 lakh, he added.
