Prof Khan Sarwar remembered

A doa mahfil and commemorative meeting in the memory of eminent educationalist, diplomat and intellectual late Prof Khan Sarwar Murshid was held in the capital's Dhanmondi yesterday. He passed away on December 8 last year. Senior citizens, diplomats, lawyers, educationists, friends and well wishers attended the commemorative meeting that was arranged by his family members. Textiles and Jute Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui, former Supreme Court Bar Association president Barrister Amirul Islam, Justice Muhammad Habibur Rahman and Prof Anisuzzaman were present at the programme. Born in 1924, Prof Khan Sarwar Murshid was at the forefront of the Language Movement in 1952, the Mass Upsurge in 1969, the six-point movement and the Liberation War in 1971. In 2010, he received the Bangla Academy Award for his contributions to literature. He was a trustee board member of Transparency International Bangladesh.
