4 die in road crashes
Four people were killed and three others injured in road accidents in Tangail, Rajshahi, and Chittagong yesterday.
Our Tangail correspondent reports, two people were killed and three others injured in a road accident in Jamurki area of Mirzapur upazila in Tangail yesterday.
One of the deceased was identified as Abdul Jalil, 60, while identity of another could not be known immediately.
Police said the accident took place as a bus crashed into a roadside shop around 9:30am, killing Jalil on the spot and injuring four others.
After the accident, locals blockaded the Dhaka-Tangail highway for an hour burning tires, creating miles long tailback of hundreds of vehicles on the both sides of the highway.
Our Rajshahi correspondent reports, a police officer was killed as a truck hit his motorcycle in Basudevpur Sluice Gate area of Godagari in Rajshahi yesterday.
The victim was Kazi Ripon Hossain, 37, a sub-inspector at Godagari Police Station.
Our Chittagong correspondent reports, Mohammed Alamgir, 22, was killed as a microbus hit him in front of Bouddho Mondir in Katalganj area under Panchlaish Police Station in Chittagong yesterday.
Police said the accident took place as the microbus hit Alamgir from behind around 2:30pm. He died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) around 3:00 pm.
