5 killed in road crashes
Five people were killed in separate road accidents across the country on Wednesday and yesterday.
Our Rangpur correspondent reports, a constable was killed instantly when a sand-laden truck rammed his motorbike in front of Rangpur Police Lines in Rangpur city around 7:30am yesterday.
The victim is Abu Hanif, 42, of Aditmari upazila in Lalmonirhat.
Rangpur Kotwali police arrested the truck driver Mizanur Rahman.
Our Bogra correspondent reports, a passenger died as he jumped off a running train after learning that he boarded the wrong train near Sonatola Railway Station on Wednesday evening.
The deceased, Nurunnabi Sarker, of Satkhira, worked as marketing manager at Desh Food Product Ltd. He was intending to go to Sonatola.
Nurunnabi died in Sonatola Health Complex.
Our Brahmanbaria correspondent adds, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver was killed as he lost control over his vehicle and fell from a bridge on Nabinagar-Companiganj road at Sreeghar village in Nabinagar upazila on Wednesday night.
The deceased is Khukon Mia, 30, of Shreeghar village in the district.
Our Natore correspondent reports, Anas Ali, 18, HSC first year student of Rajshahi College, was killed as an earth-laden truck hit his bicycle from behind on Tebaria-Bagatipara road in Tebaria area of Natore Sadar upazila yesterday around 2:00pm yesterday.
Police sent the body to Natore Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Our Feni correspondent adds, Shamim Kawsar, 19, BBA first-year student of United International University, was killed when a speeding covered van hit his motorbike from behind on Feni-Comilla road in front of District Commissioner office in Feni on Wednesday night.
Shamim, son of Siraj-ud-Doula, hailed from Barahipur village in Feni.
