Awareness about repression by law enforcers stressed
To raise mass awareness about prevention of repression by the law enforcers, a meeting was held in Chittagong city yesterday.
Odhikar, a human rights body, organised the meeting in a hotel with the assistance of the European Union.
Around 72 people fell victims to repression by the law enforcers in 2012, according to the Odikhar.
BNP Chittagong city unit President Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury was present as special guest.
Enamul Hoque Danu, general secretary of the city unit Awami League; Mostak Ahmed, deputy commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police; and Mahbubul Alam, jailer of Chittagong Central Jail were also present.
