4 die in road crashes

Four people were killed and two others injured in road accidents in Satkhira, Chittagong, Brahmanbaria and Panchagarh on Sunday and yesterday. A contractor was killed while two labours were injured in Satkhira when their truck fell into the Moriccha river after the truck driver lost control over the vehicle due to the sudden partial erosion of Allarchor Beribandh on Sunday. The deceased is Abdul Hai, 50, of Sankarpur area in Jessore Sadar upazila. Our Chittagong correspondent adds, a truck driver was run over while teaching his helper how to park a truck but the helper lost control over the vehicle on Royal Cement Ltd premises at Boro Kumira area in Sitakunda upazila yesterday. The victim is Md Jashim, 41, of Fatikchhari upazila. Our Brahmanbaria correspondent reports, six-year-old Sagir Mia, son of Ramjaz Ali of Shuhilpur village, was killed when a Sylhet-bound speeding truck hit him on Comilla-Sylhet highway at Shuhilpur village under Sadar upazila yesterday morning. Our Thakurgaon correspondent adds, an unidentified mentally challenged woman aged about 30 was killed on Thakurgaon-Panchagarh highway at Moidandighi village in Boda upazila in Panchagarh on Sunday night. Boda Highway police said a speeding vehicle might have run her over.
