200 garment workers fall sick after eating food
At least two hundred workers of a garment factory in Ashulia fell sick after eating snacks distributed by the factory authorities on Thursday evening.
Most of the victims took medical aid in a nearby hospital. They were having abdominal pain and nausea, said the hospital authorities.
Officer-in-Charge of Ashulia Police Station SM Badrul Alam said more than 3,400 workers ate cakes and bananas that evening at Starling Creation Ltd. Police collected the samples of the food to have them lab-tested, he added.
The OC quoted the factory officials as saying that they distributed food among the workers as disbursement of their salaries was being delayed by some time.
