Patenga beach to get new look
A project to modernise and rejuvenate Patenga beach, a major spot for recreation in Chittagong, was inaugurated in the port city yesterday.
Environment and Forests Minister Hasan Mahmud laid the foundation stone for the Tk 7.14 crore project which is expected to be completed by 2014.
The Department of Environment is financing the project that includes building of a two-kilometre long walkway, a changing room, a main entrance, sitting arrangement and afforestation. All the shops existing on the beach will be relocated outside the beach.
