Illegal fishing net seized
Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) yesterday seized 60,000 metres of illegal current net worth Tk 34.20 lakh from Laxmipur district.
As a part of a four-month drive, Jatka Nidhon Protirodh-2013, launched on February 1 to control illegal fishing, BCG (East) personnel recovered the nets from Matirhat, Batirkhal, Bisshwaroader Matha and nearby areas and handed those over to Kamalnagar Police Station, said a press release.
BCG has so far recovered current net worth Tk 1.30 crore and Behendi net (a type of net like mosquito net) worth Tk 1.06 lakh.
