PM to visit Rangamati today
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to visit Rangamati today.
She last visited the district on May 18, 1998 after Awami League (AL) was voted to power in 1996.
During her visit today, the premier will fly on a helicopter to Sajek union at Baghaichhari upazila in Rangamati and Keokradong in Bandarban to inspect different works done by army there.
Later, she will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate several development projects, including Rangamati science and technology university, medical college, regional passport office, and connecting bridge over Kachalong river.
Hasina will also address a public gathering organised by the district AL at Shahid Shukkur Stadium in Rangamati town.
Meanwhile, security measures through out the district have been beefed up ahead of the prime minister's visit with hundreds of law enforcers put on vigil at different points.
