Boy found dead in bus repair shop

A boy was found strangled inside a bus at a workshop in Gabtoli Beribandh of the capital yesterday. The deceased, Shamim Hossain, 12, hailed from Gouranadi in Barisal. He had been working as an apprentice at Dipnagar Khan Jahan Ali Engineering Workshop for the last one year, said its owner Rafiqul Islam. On information, Darus Salam police recovered the body from the workshop around 12:15am yesterday. A scarf was tied around the boy's throat, said police. The body was sent for autopsy to Dhaka Medical College morgue where morgue sources said the boy was strangled. Police said another worker of the workshop, who was sleeping on the spot beside Shamim on Saturday night, has been missing since the incident. Police suspect that the employee may have killed the boy and fled. Workers found the body hidden behind a seat in the bus, said the victim's uncle Shamsul Islam, quoting workers and locals.
