Eight Shibir activists detained
Moulvibazar police detained a leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir, pro-Jamaat student body, in Court Road Area of the Sadar upazila while he was preparing to picket during yesterday's hartal.
The detainee is Abdul Karim, Shibir Moulvibazar Government College unit president.
Meanwhile, in Chittagong, police detained seven Shibir activists and recovered 10 cocktails and many iron rods, sticks and marbles from their rooms while raiding the hostel of Alam Shah Para Kamil Madrasa at Rangunia upazila early yesterday.
Rangunia police said the detainees admitted that they were Shibir activists.
