One killed, 3 injured as bus overturns in Karnaphuli Tunnel

At least one person was killed and three others injured after a bus carrying garment workers overturned inside the Karnaphuli Tunnel today.

The identity of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately.

The incident took place around 8:30pm, police said.

Junayet Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Anwara Police Station, told The Daily Star, "A bus carrying garment workers overturned inside the tunnel after the driver lost control of the vehicle due to overspeeding.

"So far, we have received information that one person has died at the hospital. The death toll may rise."

Police went to the scene following the accident, he added.
