Khalilur–Doval meeting held in New Delhi
Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman held a meeting with India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval in New Delhi on Tuesday.
“The meeting was held followed by dinner,” a diplomatic source confirmed, although no details were immediately available.
Analysts suggest the discussion could have encompassed political and security dimensions, particularly issues relating to the extradition of deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina and those accused in the killing of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, convenor of the Inqilab Moncho.
Earlier in the evening, Khalilur Rahman arrived in New Delhi, accompanied by PM’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir.
“Warm welcome to FM Khalilur Rahman of Bangladesh on his arrival in New Delhi today,” India’s Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X.
“India and Bangladesh share warm and historic ties anchored in strong people-to-people relations. The visit will further bolster India–Bangladesh partnership,” he added.
Khalilur Rahman is scheduled to hold meetings with Indian Minister for External Affairs S Jaishankar, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
On April 9, Khalilur Rahman and Humayun Kabir will travel to Mauritius to attend the Indian Ocean Conference, organised by the India Foundation.
“S Jaishankar will also be attending the Indian Ocean Conference from April 10-12, providing scopes for further interactions between foreign ministers of Bangladesh and India,” diplomatic sources said.
