A heavy silence has fallen over Bandarajar Para in Rangunia as the neighbourhood prepares to receive four brothers -- returning home together in four coffins.

The bodies of Rashedul, Shahedul, Sirajul and Shahidul Islam are expected from Oman tomorrow night and will be buried Wednesday beside Bandarajar Para Jame Mosque.

Mosque president Alauddin said neighbours have already marked out the plots: "The brothers will be buried together in four graves side by side,” he said.

On May 13 evening, the four had left Barka for Muladdah in Oman. Late that night, one sent a voice message to a relative saying they were seriously unwell and unable to get out of their vehicle.

They then shared their location, called their mother, and asked for prayers. Hours later, they were found unconscious in a parked vehicle in front of a clinic.

Chattogram Samity in Oman president Yasin Chowdhury said early signs point to possible toxic gas exposure, though autopsy results are pending.

“Nothing can be confirmed before the investigation,” he said.

Rangunia UNO Md Nazmul Hasan confirmed coordination with the family, calling it “an extremely tragic incident.”

Lalanagar Union Parishad member Mohammad Hossain said the area is still in shock after receiving the news, with a silence hanging over the community

The brothers had long worked in Oman as their family’s sole support. Their father died in childhood; their mother, now ill, has not been told the full truth.

“She has only been told one son had an accident,” said neighbour Alauddin.

Among the four brothers, two were married, and the other two had planned to marry after returning home this very week.
