Musharraf's indictment
This refers to the report, “Musharraf indicted in Bhutto murder case” (August 20). This case has shown that the government hold on the military seems to be tightening. An unexpected thing has happened. Never in the history of Pakistan, a retired military chief who ruled the country for a couple of years, has been indicted in court case. A history has been created. Also, the judiciary has taken its revenge against Musharraf, who was responsible for sacking of a couple of judges, including the chief justice of Pakistan. It was expected that a deal was struck, and Musharraf may be allowed to leave Pakistan to look after his ailing mother in Dubai. Does a similar fate await the president of Pakistan who is soon to demit office, and corruption cases against him will be reopened, and he will no longer enjoy immunity?
