PM drives around Dhaka to inspect city management

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman yesterday conducted an on-site inspection of waste management, drainage, greening and other civic services across areas under Dhaka North City Corporation, identifying shortcomings and ordering immediate corrective action.

He identified several problems at different locations, expressed dissatisfaction with a number of issues and instructed the relevant authorities to take prompt and effective corrective measures, said a press release from the Prime Minister’s Press Wing.

He also gave necessary instructions to the officials responsible for improving civic services.

Before the inspection, the prime minister invited State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam and DNCC Administrator Md Safiqul Islam to his residence around 3:30pm.

Driving the vehicle himself, Tarique Rahman visited ECB Chattar, Mirpur DOHS, Diabari, Uttara Sectors 3, 4, 5 and 6, Airport Road, Kakoli, Mohakhali, Farmgate, Manik Mia Avenue, Asad Gate, Mohammadpur, Salimullah Road, Iqbal Road, Tajmahal Road, Japan Garden City, Shyamoli, Gono Bhaban intersection, Zia Udyan, Shewrapara, Kazipara, Mirpur-10, Kachukhet, Cantonment, Sainik Club and Banani before returning to his Gulshan residence.

According to the Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony, Tarique Rahman spent more than two and a half hours inspecting roads across the city before returning home.

“The prime minister has repeatedly said he wants Dhaka to be a clean city. That is why he personally inspected conditions on the ground,” Rony added.  The prime minister was accompanied by Shahe Alam, Safiqul, BNP Special Secretary Belayet Hossain, Prime Minister’s Private Secretary Mehedul Islam and Assistant Private Secretary Abdur Rahman Sani.
