World champion Lewis Hamilton has tested positive for coronavirus and will miss this weekend's Sakhir Grand Prix in Bahrain, Formula One's governing body FIA announced Tuesday. “In accordance with Covid-19 protocols and public health authority guidelines in Bahrain he (Hamilton) is now isolating,” said an FIA statement. “The procedures set out by the FIA and Formula 1 will ensure no wider impact on this weekend's event."

Apple fined 10 mn euros for misleading waterproofing claims
Italy's competition authority said Monday it had fined Apple 10 million euros ($12 million) for misleading claims about the water-resistant properties of various iPhone models. It said the US tech giant “did not make it clear that this feature exists under certain specific conditions”, notably in laboratory tests with static and pure water, “and not under normal conditions of use”.

Twitter confirmed Saturday it will hand control of the presidential @POTUS account to Joe Biden when he is sworn in on inauguration day, even if President Donald Trump has not conceded his election loss. “Twitter is actively preparing to support the transition of White House institutional Twitter accounts on January 20th, 2021,” the social network said in a statement to AFP. “As we did for the presidential transition in 2017, this process is being done in close consultation with the National Archives and Records Administration,” the statement said.

Apple has agreed to pay $113 million to settle litigation with more than 30 US states over its slowdown in the performance of older iPhones to manage battery power. The latest “batterygate” settlement will divide the settlement among California and 33 other states, according to a statement by state Attorney General Xavier Becerra. The settlement resolves complaints that the tech giant made misrepresentations about iPhone batteries and software updates that throttled processing performance manage insufficient battery power, according to the state official.
