Aliss stars with hattrick and six-for as Prime Bank rout Gazi Group

Mohammedan Sporting Club and Prime Bank Cricket Club continued their winning run in the fourth round of the Dhaka Premier League on Wednesday, with Prime Bank spinner Aliss Al Islam’s six-wicket haul, featuring a hat-trick, emerging as the highlight of the day.

Prime Bank thrashed Gazi Group Cricketers by 198 runs at the ULAB Cricket Ground. After being sent in to bat, Shahadat Hossain and Azizul Hakim Tamim laid the foundation with knocks of 71 and 78 respectively, while Shamim Hossain added 51. Late fireworks from skipper Akbar Ali, who smashed 26 off 13 balls, and Abu Hider Rony, who struck 42 off just 17 deliveries, propelled Prime Bank to 303 for 6.

In reply, Aliss ripped through the Gazi Group batting line-up with figures of six for 21 in 9.2 overs. The spinner completed his hat-trick by taking wickets off the final two deliveries of the 23rd over before dismissing Aridul Islam with the first ball of the 25th over. Gazi Group were bowled out in 30.2 overs, with number-eleven batter Azijul Hakim Rony retiring hurt.

At BKSP-2, Mohammedan’s Mrittunjoy Chowdhury claimed six for 22 to bowl Bashundhara Strikers out for just 80. In response, Anamul Haque struck a 28-ball 50 while Naim Sheikh smashed 31 off 21 deliveries as Mohammedan sealed a 10-wicket win.

Brothers Union registered their first victory of the season, defeating City Club by 25 runs via the DLS method at the Cricketers Academy ground. Chasing 204, Zahiduzzaman Khan and Adil Bin Siddik scored 58 and 57 respectively as Brothers reached 150 for 4 in 34.1 overs before rain interrupted play and the match was decided by DLS.

At BKSP-3, Shykat Ali’s unbeaten 88 off 90 balls guided Dhaka Leopards to a six-wicket win over Gulshan Cricket Club.

Mahfizul Islam Robin struck 127 off 138 balls to help Agrani Bank post 293 for 7 against Legends of Rupganj at the Bashundhara Sports Complex. In reply, Irfan Shukkur made a brisk 40 off 34 balls before rain halted play with Rupganj on 145 for 6 in 34.1 overs, handing Agrani a 77-run DLS victory.

Mahfuzur Rabby starred with the ball for Abahani Limited, taking five for 25 in 10 overs as his side cruised to an eight-wicket win over Rupganj Tigers at BKSP-4. Soumya Sarkar scored 65 off 76 balls while Jaker Ali added an unbeaten 44-ball 44 as Abahani chased down the 148-run target in 25.4 overs.

The fifth round matches will take place on May 16. 

The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur is set to host matches for the first time this edition from this round.
