BCB boosts coaching ranks with 30 Level 3 graduates
All 30 participants of the recently concluded Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Level 3 Coach Course successfully completed the programme, which ended on Wednesday with a certificate handover ceremony at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
BCB’s ad hoc committee president Tamim Iqbal, Game Development Committee chairman Fahim Sinha, Grounds Committee chairman Md Rafiqul Islam Babu, and BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury attended the ceremony and handed over certificates to the participants.
The programme included a 90-day field assignment following an intensive residential course conducted by internationally renowned coach educators. The course was facilitated by Australia-based Turner-Campbell Consultancy.
During the field assignment, participants applied their learning in real coaching environments, working closely with both advanced and emerging players. Each coach developed and implemented structured development plans, utilised modern coaching tools, and monitored the progress of their assigned players.
The course concluded with detailed report submissions and in-person presentations, where participants shared their experiences, insights, and outcomes.
Notable participants included Abdur Razzak, Talha Jubaer, Hannan Sarkar, Javed Omar, Rajin Saleh, Nazmul Hossain, Dollar Mahmud, Faisal Hossain Decans, Tushar Imran, and Fatema Tuz Jahara. Fatema became the first female coach in Bangladesh to earn a Level 3 certification.
“I would like to thank the BCB for giving us such a great opportunity. Turner-Campbell Consultancy is a world-renowned organisation, and the programme was very fruitful. I hope the training will help the coaches in their careers,” Shahriar Nafees, one of the paricipants in the programe, told The Daily Star.
According to participants and BCB officials, the pass mark was 75 out of 100. The course included in-course assessments, presentations, field practicals, assignments, and final defence, with all participants meeting the required standard.
“After a long time, such an initiative was taken, and for me, it’s a historic event. I would like to thank [former BCB president Aminul Islam] Bulbul bhai for organising such a wonderful programme, which allowed many former players to complete the course. He deserves all the credit,” former skipper Rajin Saleh said.
The course had begun on September 15 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
The panel of educators and tutors featured leading figures in global cricket development and high-performance coaching, including former BCB president Aminul Islam, Ross Turner, Alan Campbell, Geoff Lawson, and Natasha Campbell.
The previous Level 3 course in Bangladesh was held in 2009 under a joint initiative of the ICC and ACC.
