Rishad, Aliss shine as Bangladesh 'A' clinch series in South Africa

Rishad Hossain and Aliss Al Islam shared seven wickets before Saif Hassan and Mohammad Naim hit fifties as Bangladesh ‘A’ registered a five-wicket win over South Africa ‘A’ in the third and final one-dayer in Potchefstroom on Saturday, sealing the series 1-0.

Rishad claimed 4-45 and Aliss 3-35 as Bangladesh dominated with the ball and bowled South Africa ‘A’ out for 182 in 40 overs after opting to field.

Skipper Marques Ackerman top-scored with 54 off 61 balls, while number nine Imran Manack made 43 off 53 balls to give the hosts a fighting total. Without their late resistance, South Africa ‘A’ could have been dismissed for a much lower score as they were reduced to 89-6 at one stage.

Bangladesh got off to a flying start in the chase, with Saif and Naim putting on 92 for the opening wicket to lay the foundation for victory. Saif was eventually dismissed for 61 off 53 balls, hitting nine fours and three sixes.

Bangladesh lost a few more wickets thereafter, but Naim remained composed before falling for 60 off 77 balls. The visitors, however, had already done enough to reach 185-5 in 33 overs and finish the series on a high.

Kyle Simmonds took three wickets for South Africa ‘A’.

The opening match, which witnessed only 11 overs’ play, ended without a result, while the second was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
