Tanzid’s practice approach focuses on satisfaction, not time
Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim was still at the crease on Monday, even though it was officially a rest day for the Tigers at their ongoing skill camp in Mirpur's indoor facilities.
It wasn't because he wanted extra time in the nets; Tanzid simply seeks satisfaction from every practice session.
The left-hander shared his thoughts on preparations while speaking to reporters. The conversation turned to England coach Brendon McCullum, who recently said his side had "over-prepared" for the second Ashes Test in Brisbane -- a remark that drew criticism after Australia secured an eight-wicket win to take a 2-0 series lead.
Tanzid used McCullum's comment to explain his own approach: "Everything depends on how satisfied you are with your practice session. Once I feel satisfied, no one needs to push me. And today, I am satisfied," he said.
Asked if he had been following the Ashes, he replied: "Yes, especially when I am home." When asked which team he supports, he didn't hesitate: "Australia."
The young opener also addressed the idea of chasing individual milestones in ICC events like the T20 World Cup. "I don't think in these terms. My focus is on contributing to the team. If I score runs but the team doesn't win, those runs have no value. I also don't believe in surpassing someone else. My job is to score runs," Tanzid said, emphasising team success over personal records.
