Unbeaten Prime Bank go top of DPL after beating Mohammedan
Prime Bank Cricket Club remained the only unbeaten side in the Dhaka Premier League after edging Mohammedan Sporting Club by three wickets in a thrilling fifth-round clash of the Dhaka Premier League at the Bashundhara Sports Complex on Saturday.
In the top-of-the-table encounter, Mohammedan posted a challenging 303 for six after opting to bat first. Opener Mohammad Naim narrowly missed out on his second century of the season, scoring 99 off 97 balls, while Parvez Hossain Emon made 52 and Afif Hossain remained unbeaten on 49.
Prime Bank chased down the target with five balls to spare, reaching 307 for seven in 49.1 overs. Shahadat Hossain Dipu starred with 118 off 123 deliveries, hitting 10 fours and two sixes, before Shamim Hossain sealed the win with an unbeaten 37 off 21 balls.
The victory took Prime Bank to the top of the standings with a perfect 10 points from five matches.
At the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Abahani claimed their third successive win after beating Bashundhara Strikers by four wickets.
Chasing 210, Abahani slipped to 44 for four before Jaker Ali scored 43, Mosaddek Hossain added 57 and Sabbir Rahman remained unbeaten on 50 to guide the side home in 39.2 overs.
Earlier, Aminul Islam Biplob made 81 and Nahidul Islam scored 63 as Bashundhara Strikers managed 209 for nine.
Elsewhere, Mohammad Mithun blasted 112 off 86 balls to help Dhaka Leopards beat Brothers Union by 120 runs, while Ashikur Rahman Shibli struck 119 as Legends of Rupganj thrashed Gulshan Cricket Club by 205 runs.
At BKSP-3, Abdul Gaffar Saqlain claimed a career-best 6-37 before Sadikur Rahman hit an unbeaten 105 to steer City Club to a six-wicket win over Rupganj Tigers. Meanwhile, Agrani Bank Cricket Club defeated Gazi Group Cricketers by four wickets.
