Bangladesh women's football team reaches Bangkok without two goalkeepers
Bangladesh women’s football team reached Bangkok today without two goalkeepers, Rupna Chakma and Mile Akhter, due to visa complications.
Apart from the two players, seven members of the coaching staff and media officials were also unable to travel with the team after failing to receive Thai visas in time.
“A total of nine persons including two goalkeepers Rupna Chakma and Mile Akter have not been granted Thai visas yet, so they did not travel with the team,” team manager Khalid Mahmud Nowmee said.
He, however, expressed hope that all nine members would join the squad in Bangkok once the Thai embassy issues their visas.
British coach Peter Butler and fitness coach Cameron Lord travelled with the team alongside 21 members of the 23-player squad.
Bangladesh are scheduled to hold a two-week training camp in Thailand as part of their preparation for the upcoming SAFF Women’s Championship, which will be held in Goa, India from May 25.
During the camp, the women in red and green are expected to play two warm-up matches against local clubs before leaving Thailand for Goa on May 21.
