Rain spoils Sri Lanka-BCB XI practice match

Star Sports Report

As Dhaka experienced heavy rain during midday, the first day of the two-day practice match between BCB XI and Sri Lanka had to be called off at BKSP today.

Play did begin though earlier after the visiting skipper Dimuth Karunaratne elected to bat first upon winning the toss. However, Karunaratne had to depart early as he fell to Mukidul Islam in the last ball of the sixth over.

Afterwards, the match could only proceed for a couple more overs as nature opted to intervene. Sri Lanka had scored 14 for one in 8.3 overs when play was called off.

Following the two-day practice match, the Lankan Lions will fly for Chattogram tomorrow to play the first of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, slated to begin from May 15.
