Spain's final training session delayed due to thunderstorm

Spain’s final training session ahead of the World Cup final was delayed on Saturday as a thunderstorm rolled through the region.

The national team had been scheduled to begin their preparations at 11:00 am local time. However, as reported by The Athletic, media personnel at the venue were advised to move indoors as a safety precaution due to the threat of lightning.

A tournament official confirmed that protocols dictate that training must be suspended whenever lightning is detected within an eight-mile radius of the site.

According to the official, the situation is assessed every 30 minutes until an "all clear" is issued, a standard procedure for all matches and training sessions throughout the tournament, which is being hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

This weather protocol has caused several interruptions to the tournament schedule over the past few weeks.

Spain’s session was rescheduled to begin at 11:30 am local time, subject to any further weather-related delays.
