Top seeds stunned

Mirnara Sharmin and Rahima Akter stunned top seeds Moumita Alam Rumi and Akhi Akter to reach the final of women's singles in the Aarong Dairy Federation Cup Table Tennis tournament at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in Paltan yesterday.

Minara notched up a 4-3 win over Rumi to set up today's final against Rahima, who handed a 4-2 defeat to Akhi, in their respective semifinals.

In the men's singles, top-seed Manash Chowdhury and Khandokar Mahbub Billah emerged group champions to reach the semifinals.

Four-time national champion Manash beat Rocky, Palash and Javed while Mahmub beat Porag, Shahed and Hridoy in group-stage matches.

Manash will face Hridoy in the first semifinal while Mahbub will compete against Javed in the other semifinal today.
