CBI arrests Trinamool MP Tapas Pal in chit fund case

Actor Tapas Paul, a lawmaker of Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress, was arrested in Kolkata by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with a chit fund scam, reports NDTV.

The Bengali film actor, who represents Krishnanagar in Parliament, was being interrogated since morning.

Rose Valley owner Gautam Kundu is already behind bars for the last one year. Paul worked as director for two firms of the Rose Valley Group for more than a year. During the period he allegedly accepted money in cash and cheques, the details of which is being probed by the CBI.

The Central Bureau of Investigation on March, 2015, conducted raids at two of Paul's residences in south Kolkata and seized documents.
