2 women hurt in cracker blast

A portion of the factory was also damaged.

Police and witnesses said Aleya Begum,50, wife of factory owner Manik Mia was supervising the work of about eight to 10 women workers at the cracker factory on Monday midnight. At one stage, a kerosene lamp overturned resulting in the cracker blast.

Aleya and her daughter Amena Begum, 25, were injured seriously.

Initially they were admitted at Tangail Sadar Hospital. Finally Aleya was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where she is fighting for life.

A case was filed with Tangail police station.
