Prisoner dies at Kushtia

The victim was identified as Zohurul Islam, 26, of Bazidpur village in Mirpur upazila.

Family sources alleged that inhuman police torture during interrogation has resulted his death while jail sources termed it as a normal death.

According jail sources, Zohurul, an accused in an arms case, was arrested on March 3. He was sent to jail through court on the following day of arrest. The same day he was admitted to jail hospital 'with serious injuries,' jail doctor Rathndranath told this correspondent .

As his condition deteriorated he was shifted to Kushtia General Hospital on Tuesday where he died at about 10 pm, he added.

However, victim's family differed and demanded proper investigation which led to the death.
