Barisal people hail Padma bridge at Mawa

There were waves of processions on streets in the city after the JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) announced that its survey found Mawa as the suitable site for the bridge.

Muktijoddha Sangshad, Mawa Setu Bastobyion Parishad (Committee for bridge at Mawa) and other socio-cultural organisations brought out processions in the city hailing the decision. Similar processions were also brought out in other towns in Barisal division, according to reports reaching here yesterday.

Different socio-cultural organisation also sent congratulatory messages to the Prime Minister and the Communication Minister hailing the decision.

Nazrul Islam Rajon, member secretary of the Parishad said, the declaration is the first step in victory. Complete victory will be achieved when the bridge will be completed. Their programmes demanding quick implementation of the project will continue, he said.
