No more pesticide on fields

They took the decision at a Field Day, held at Rmpur village in Chandura union in the Sadar upazila on Friday, organised by the Extention Department.

DAE official Md. Badar Uddin was the chief guest and Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Mohosin, was the special guest at the programme.

They discussed with the farmers the harmful effects of pesticide on fields and the environment. They explained different ways of killing pests under integrated pest management (IPM) system.

The DAE opened a temporary centre at the village to train farmers on the IPM system.

Convinced, the farmers also decided to encourage others not to use pesticides in fields. This correspondent was also present at the Field Day.

Fields level officials of DAE-- Tamiz Uddin, Rafique Uddina and Md. Moniruzzaman also addressed the farmers.
