Auditorium, was organised by the Sundarban Day Udjapan Committee in observance of the 5th Sundarbans Day. The Sundarbans Day was declared by environmentalists.

Former Minister Dr. Aftabuzza-man was the as chief guest at the discussion, presided over by the committee's convenor Principal Asit Kumar Majumdar.

It was addressed by, among others, Kamrul Islam Farooq, Prof. Mohammad Ali, Mariam Mannan and Madhab Chandra Dutta.

Dr. Aftabuzzman said world famous Sundarbans is a unique gift of God to Bangladesh.

"Its survival with its rich flora and fauna is essential not only for us but also for the world. It is the lone natural habitat of the Royan Bengal Tiger.

Other speakers said the Sunderbans with its rich bio- diversity is protecting the South Western region of the country from natural calamities.

But the resources are being plundered, destroying the eco-system.

The Sunderbans have to be saved, and the main responsibility lies with the people and government of Bangladesh, they said.

The wildlife and its vast natural resources will be destroyed if measures are not taken right now, they said.
